Click here to see our Spinning inventory! Vulcan's Rest Fibers carries spinning wheels made by Louet, Ashford, and Schacht primarily, with an occasional wheel by other manufacturers. As used wheels are available, we try to keep some in stock so that we will have lower priced spinning wheels when needed for beginners just trying out the craft. Various fibers for spinners are always available, changing from time to time as interesting new fibers become known to us. Classes to teach you how to spin are held now and then, but you are welcome to make an appointment to have someone show you spinning at your convenience. An artisan can only be as good as his or her tools allow. So, for two decades the Louët team in Holland has been researching, designing, experimenting and consulting with you, the customer, to create a superior line of spinning wheels. This includes well-balanced wheels which have been carefully engineered to be easy-to-use, durable, low-maintenance, aesthetically pleasing and productive. Certainly the best features of the Louët wheels are that they treadle lightly, are easy to learn on and can be modified to satisfy the expert spinners. The Louët wheels were originally geared towards spinning medium to heavy yarns. Although bobbins and flyers are available for spinning this type of yarn following to demand, the standard wheels have been redesigned to be more suitable for spinning fine to medium yarns. The orifice on the standard wheel is sufficiently large diameter 12.5 mm (1/2") as are the bobbins to allow you to create novelty yarns.
